The Great Lakes Kitefliers Society was organized in 1986 by a group of enthusiastic
individuals. In April of 1988, the club was formally organized, titled and chartered. "Volunteered"
officers ran the club at first and they planned and held many very successful events. The
club grew in size and the officers needed more help.
In December of 1989, the members adopted by-laws for the GLKS and elected 9
people to a Board of Directors. At their first meeting the Board elected four officers
in accordance with the by-laws. Board members, with the help of the GLKS members,
plan and carry out the events and activities of the Society.
